Dear Winfried,

In a much hurried attempt to add one blip upon a screen...

>From what I can tell, the Learning Organization Discussion list has not
been on the global internet for 40 years,(the dispensation of one
generation). I would think that there may be plenty of wandering about
until such a time comes, until that time there must be complaining, and
jockying for position as pressure, (such as what can be provided from
competition) is often the catalyst for growth.

Please accept this excuse for my own limited contribution to the Learning
Organization discussion list.

First, I will be a learner in every community until such a moment is
needed for me to help lead develops. To know this time is fundamental to
the each of us and for each of us. The need to hold back before speaking
is even more a blessing for some, and a curse for others....

It is very important to have opposing views spoken and displayed. No one
individual is right, (40 years is a mighty long time for an ego to keep a
group of followers in check) now intelligence on the other hand....

You said "the words may have changed, but the topics and content remain more
or less the same"...
My response is that you are not mistaken. And it is O.K.
The content is simply leadership. Our organizations, us, we want to know
which way to go, and when to do it.
Each new and passing management fad brings about an opportunity for a new
generation to leave it's mark. Each organizational generation wants nothing
more, than to leave its mark, not to rule the universe, nor to dominate the
fishes in the sea, simply to be recognized, as we humans have placed such
power behind the capability of entities to make an impression.
Actually, it's getting kind of tiresome, but onward, round and round through
our own wilderness we will go and peace be to those who have found a quiet
spot to relax and reflect...

I have found this Learning Organization discussion list a place of solace,
even amongst the trifle bickering, as I will learn, and I find peace
through learning.

Sir, you stated that you want " to avoid that you become a teacher instead
of a learner. I commend you of your fear, as a teachers can only learn
from their students, otherwise the teacher is merely a baby sitter, and
poor ones at that. Peace be to those teachers who seek each student and
looks not to the courseness of hair which is dead and can be cut and
primped a million different ways, but looks into their souls and masters
the ability to develop each one to help defend freedom.

I feel a certain pain from the organizational bloodletting that occurs
when members are required to learn just enough, to keep the wheel moving,
and then when the doing, not necessarily the learning, has been done, are
made to move on without an individual mastering the skills prerequisite to
the needs of an organization's customer, A transfusion may be needed for
organizations growing stagnant, and who leaders re-warm old buzz words,
and rename old policies out of either laziness, or failure to obtain
insight into the purpose for which the organization has been established
because leader may have been forced to move on without having gained a
respect for meanings latent in grammar or patterns remnant from history.
Transfusions beget new visions and new revelations of how to deal with
topics incumbents and predecessors failed to answer to a follower's
satisfaction.

It may be needed that a small group with sights upon a prize not seen by
others move away for a short while to research and develop, - to hunt that
the others may stay behind and cultivate a language, which will feed the
young and old at heart. The hunters will bring back meat that children may
wind up regurgitating all over themselves and never fully process, and
wind up dying in the end if uncles, brothers, sisters and mothers are not
patient.

The need for individual development is in dire need by our organizations.
Currently many of our children are in a state of arrested development,
because of impatience and fear where the is none, but only ego and vanity
caused by a certain lack of trust that no one is right, and a lack of
respect for deep, and sometimes ancient history and not the popularized
pre-packed junk food found in convenience stores, we currently call many
of our educational institutions, and our training seminars. Certainly the
labels are fancy and eye catching and are encouraged to be cut out and
worn on shirt sleeves like badges, but what is inside the package that
goes into an entity ultimately winds up as waste or energy. The key is to
make every morsel count, for each individual. That is true value.
Un-wasted energy. Therefore everything is of some value in one manner or
another, even oddly placed criticisms sometimes found in this discussion
list, (Reminds me of a passage of bible scripture I once read that was
popularized by a song I believe from the 1960's era..."..to everything
[turn, turn, turn], there is a season, [turn, turn, turn] "). Turning,
wandering, revolution - it's all the same - sometimes goes by different
names, but the same none the less.

Just happened to be your turn to speak out, and it was greatly
appreciated. Please do not give up. I will learn, and others like me will
continue to learn. I simply do not have an occupation that affords me the
opportunity to research answers to all of the fascinating questions that
have been posed by the list. I have not been commissioned to do so, or I
would. Perhaps because as a middle school aged youngster, I was assessed
by an occupational outlook test which rendered results encouraging me to
pursue the job of a sanitation specialist. I will admit that I was a poor
elementary, middle, and high school student, but that is a whole'nother
ball game...Wasted energy could best summarize this phenomena...I guess,
we are all drawn to different types of music at one time of another...
Perhaps one day I may be chosen to learn from a "master". Perhaps one day
I will be a teacher, and I will take the time to seek out individuals.
There are many of us out there, simply waiting, watching, lurking, call it
what we may, just waiting for inspiration to trigger a cause that may
leave behind good effects for the continued success of organizations and
people that have loved us and that we love.

Very Respectfully,

Jon
