My answer would be: to make a dfference in their lives. I've said to
clients: What is your mission? Why do you exist? What benefits do you
want to provide to people? What specific contribution do you want to make
to them?
Making money is only a means to an end: you make enough money so that you
can continue to do what you're in business to do. If you lose money
providing benefits, you will no longer be able to provide them. You need
to provide benefits that people see as benefits, at a price people are
willing to pay.
If this is an organization's mission, why can't it become an LO?
