Replying to LO24431 --
There are those who have the gift of a poet's voice, able to speak of
great depth in a brevity of space. Those who create a space where one
"enters with joy and leaves with wisdom" (Robert Frost, I think). There
are such poets in this community.
I myself am rarely able to be verbally brief without sacrificing the
depth, the essence, the great truth in the thought. So I use the parable
method, a metaphor/photograph that will hopefully - like a chocolate
truffle or a superb Bordeaux - transcend the senses to linger in the mind
and perhaps, just perhaps, evanesce into the spirit where the listener
will hear what I could not speak because of the limits of my humaness.
It's not everyone's cup of tea; in fact, I was recently told my 'stories'
are boring.
Without a deep listener there would be no incentive for me to attempt such
sharing of who I am. For me, that deeper listening is an expression of
love, which I believe is in the heart of a learning organization.
Thank you, Andrew, for speaking your depth and so moving me to write...
