You are certainly entitled to your perspective Judy AND I would prefer if
you would, when offering a statement of observation such as the above one,
own that it is your perception rather stating it as if it is a fact.

I feel that perhaps you have missed the point I was making. For me, the
emphasis that I would place on what I said is that many Christian people
never consider that there is a Goddess, let alone aknowledge Her or speak
in terms of a feminine Goddess. Non-Eurocentric/androcentric cultures
and/or religions do. So the point for me is that assuming the word God
covers both genders is not an assumption (and is more a personal and
collective cultural construct) to be taken for granted as fact.

In my original post I referenced the authors as indicating that both
separate knowing and connected understanding are useful in groups, but
that they ideally need to co-exist in balanced proportions in order that
the group might obtain their optimum communicative benefits. I do believe
this. And I also believe it is important to look at opressive linguistic
styles and assumptions, and to try to become more aware of these.
