Unique leadership approach to help create best places to work Down Under
The Greenleaf Centre to stage an interactive leadership forum and
conference

The Greenleaf Centre for Servant-Leadership (Australia & New Zealand)
invites Australian leaders to an innovative interactive conference held
over six months, culminating in a Melbourne conference event in November
this year. AHRI is featuring Great Places to Work, why not get to speak
with a great place to work from America who have been getting it right.

"In terms of what Fortune magazine has called the best places to work in
the USA, there have been a growing number of companies that are practising
Servant-Leadership in meaningful ways", said Larry Spears, CEO of the
Greenleaf Centre for Servant-Leadership International, and guest speaker
for the Melbourne conference. "This past year's listing of the 100 best
included about a third that are clients or customers of the Greenleaf
Centre."

Also presenting at the Melbourne conference will be Jack Lowe, CEO and
Chairman of the Board for TDIndustries, Dallas, Texas - ranked fourth in
Fortune's 2000 listing of America's top 100 great places to work, and has
repeatedly been ranked in the top 10 since the rankings inception.

For over ten years, TDIndustries has worked to embrace the
Servant-Leadership concept in creating an organisation where people are
drawn together in co-creating an exceptional working community.

"The winning organisations, the successful organisations, the
extraordinary organisations of the future are those that are going to
allow people to really bring a lot of themselves to the effort", said Mr.
Lowe. "It has certainly been our experience that is has enhanced
profitability, customer satisfaction, shareholder return - it has enhanced
everything."

The conference event includes an innovative online dimension. Leading up
to the Melbourne experience, participants will be able to become part of a
virtual conference, designed to build a strong leadership community across
geographic boundaries. Video segments with keynote speakers, chatroom
opportunities, conference updates, news items and speaker articles will
all be available, as well as the chance to join in follow-up activities
after the Melbourne event.

One 'virtual' speaker will be James Blanchard, Chairman of the Board and
Chief Executive Officer, Synovus Financial Corp - a company listed as
number 1 in 1999, and number 5 in 2000 in Fortune 500's Great Places to
Work.

"There's a lot of motivation and lot of reasons to want to be a great
place to work. Many of them are business reasons", said Mr. Blanchard.
"Our reason is basically we think it is the right thing to do. It's the
right way to run a company. It's the right way to create an environment
for people who give you the best thing they've got - their working life,
their energy, their commitment, and their passion on the job."

Servant-leadership is a practical philosophy that enables people to serve
first, and then lead as a way of expanding service to individuals and
institutions. It is a leadership approach that has found wide acceptance
in a diversity of institutions including corporate, government, education,
not-for-profit, and small business sectors.

Guest speaker for the virtual conference, Michael Kim, of Pegasus
Communications Inc. explained, "Servant-leadership represents a pyramid
that is inverted. Those who are at the highest level of the
organisational hierarchy, who are smaller in number, are actually serving
the organisation by serving and facilitating the greater numbers who are
actually doing the work."

"They can then greatly leverage the capacity of an organisation to the
work that needs to be done at the front line."

Australia is the first of the eight Greenleaf international Centres to
trial the virtual conference innovation. "We wanted to be able to reach
the wide leadership community in our region to draw together the
exceptional talent that we know is present in our organisations", said
Diann Feldman, sponsor of the Greenleaf Centre for Servant-Leadership
Centre for Servant-Leadership (Australia & New Zealand).

Anyone, anywhere, anytime can be part of the Greenleaf conference
experience.
