HI Russell
Nicely put, I have been droning on about this for months. Hence I am
interested in VSM which is all about structure, SST is purely structure
Elliot Jaques' work is centered around the structure of firms. EKS centers
around how structure and processes form to meet societies needs
individually and collectively.
Deming might be pushing it a bit by saying 94% I am not sure of what the
percentage could be because in my work I have also found that people are
structures within themselves and fit or somewhat fit better with some
structures and not so well with others. There has to be congruency with
value structures, cognitive structures, needs created structures,
accountability structures, meta structures and its recursitivity. etc etc.
To deliver whatever a company produces requires structures that are
flexible and can grow adapt,. learn and at the same time optimally meet
the markets and stake holder needs. A rather tall order.
Systems thinking is good but it is a problem solving methodology and is a
bit weak on things like structure hence all the disciplines. In a sense it
sometimes seems like a reduction approach within a complexity approach.
