Replying to LO25538 --
How refreshing Mark McElroy's comments were! As an inmate of a big five I
can confirm that among the things I have learned there are; how to conform
to the expectations of others, how to interpret the byzantine ettiquette
and politics of a huge hierarchical organisation, and how to ask myself
"Who will be offended by this?" before I speak.
It's not all like that though. I have also learned lots of exciting
things. I do feel encouraged to learn and share knowledge. Most of my
colleagues are wonderfully supportive.
However, it has always mystified me how narrow their recruitment policies
are. It can sometimes feel like a country club.
Regards
Christine
