SPIRIT OF LEARNING BY JOY VATSYAYANN (ME!)
went to bed last night;
something amiss,
misplaced.

emptiness deep within;
ah! Go to sleep oh lil one
dreams will fill all.

Tossing and turning
uneasy
i woke up this morning
feeling incomplete.

as minutes ticked past
with yawns awakening
a restlessness grew
heavier in my heart
an urge to scream
a desire to break free.

The bird cage is empty.

just the stench of structure
and its aftermath;

the essentials:
water
and
seed
and
the
excreta.

Sinking into a hot tub
closing my eyes
the ghost of me
running like a being possessed
naked
across the land
screaming
crying
tears of blood
clawing at self within
to find.

empty cage.

Fingers dried like prunes.
Steam hiding all
a warm calm washing over all.

Out in the sun
gardening my thoughts
pulling at the weeds that cloud my mind
getting some,
others: roots intact.

With the buzz of a bee collecting honey
from the flowers on the monster
A question springs to mind changing all:
Why am I calling this a weed?
For Whom? By Whom? For What? How?

Suddenly all froze.

The cage rattled
liek soemthing flew in.

The touch of rain
2 hours gone
staring at a weed in all its glory.

Closing my eyes to feel rain
like an angel touching the skies
I think I heard
the wings flutter
yearn to unfirl again.

Somethings soaring inside
wanting to fly
needing to explore
life anew.

I step out
naked
letting it take flight
content in the moment.

the cage is empty yet filled.

The Spirit is back again....
Learning the only bait.
