Seriously, I do think the lack of "laws" in corporations is an issue.
The St. Gallen integrated management model points out that one important
aspect of an organization is its normative structures. Those could be
written agreements on how people work together, they could be tacitly (or
aurally) held common values, or they could be arbitrarily set across the
organization, as in individual manager's fiefdoms. Those laws don't
really have to be too long to do some good; HP got and gets a lot of
mileage from the HP Way, the HP Corporate Objectives, and (now) the Rules
of the Garage (http://www.trendscope.net/article.cfm?id=14). Porras'
