It's a Time for Reflection.
As we end one year, and begin another, let's take time to reflect on the
true passion of our work life. To look at what so many of us have
endeavored to create within our organizations and our communities.
Whether it was in our "job title" or not, it has been a main focus as we
do our work.
This free online seminar, inquiring into the aspirations, competencies,
skills and the supporting disciplines of a "knowledge ecologist" begins
now. This free online seminar will feature:
Mike McMaster (Knowledge-Based Development)
Dr. Mark Addleson (Program on Social & Organizational Learning- George
Mason University)
Matt Taylor (MG Taylor)
Lisa Kimball (GroupJazz)
The purpose of this online seminar is to explore and better understand the
competencies of a "Knowledge Ecologist". By the end of this seminar, we
will design together a source document on... "Who are knowledge ecologists
and what roles do they play in today's knowledge economy?"
There are three phases for this seminar:
1) We start with an exploration and a high-level view of knowledge
development in organizations.
2) We then focus on how knowledge development capabilities shape a viable
and "good" organization in our current "knowledge economy". We will also
look at how the capabilities of individuals, knowledge workers, and the
building of a viable organization, interplay.
3) Finally, we will narrow down our focus on development paths for growing
the competencies of a knowledge ecologist and entertain some potential
learning models that will be helpful. We will close by defining some next
steps that the community is ready to take.
What is Knowledge Ecology?
In dynamic environments, knowledge is always changing, growing and
emerging. We are realizing that knowledge does not reside in separate
groups, functions or even disciplines. Knowledge occurs within a larger
network--a living ecology of human intelligence and interaction. The
inter-disciplinary field of growing and mobilizing collective intelligence
and abilities is called, appropriately, Knowledge Ecology.
Let's begin to create a knowledge ecology together...
