Perhaps on the picky side, but my copy of the American Heritage Dictionary
says a statistic is 1) Any numerical datum. 2) An estimate of a parameter.
By that definition, Scott did present a statistic.

[Host's Note: I'll be even pickier... I was taught the technical
definition of a statistic... A statistic is ANY function computed from
some collection of data. So, all the examples mentioned are
statistics. Which ones are helpful and valuable... That's another
