Dear Colleagues:
The Conference Board of Canada and the DeGroote School of Business
(McMaster University) have decided to launch a new program in Director
education (see www.thedirectorscollege.com) commencing this September,
2003. It will be Canada's first.
The Directors College will address all areas of corporate governance,
including (but not limited to):
Transparency in governance;
Governance structures;
Corporate investments and disclosure;
Shareholder and stakeholder relations;
Accountability;
Privacy and security;
Executive and Board compensation;
Board committees (roles and responsibilities);
Director independence;
Effective Board management relations;
Board recruitment;
The role of the Board Chair (or "lead director");
Proxy voting;
Stock options;
etc.
We are now in the process of creating a registry of those individuals
(academics and practitioners) who are interested in the subjects of
corporate governance and director education. If you would like to be
included in this registry, please drop me a quick email reply at:
chris.bart@thedirectorscollege.com
A brief summary of your interests and qualifications in these areas (i.e.
research, teaching, board experience) would be greatly appreciated.
I look forward to hearing from you...and please feel free to forward this
message to others who you think might be interested.
Thank you.
