Replying to LO14166 --

Morty Lefkoe said " I'd like to propose a heretical notion: that there is
no such thing as external motivation!!"

At least in American society, "what will my neighbors think," has long
circumscribed our behaviors. Once can always argue that the guilt that
drives this behavior is internal. Nevertheless, the notion of 'neighbors'
being external observes and judges is still in operation. The rise of the
Internet has expanded availability of pornography without risk of
neighbor-censure. The neighbor has lost some power to influence.
