IMHO there can be improvement in schools without an increase in the school
year but it seems unreal that we have clung to this agrarian calendar.
Schools take summers off because they always have; teachers and
administrators want summers off because they always have; students want it
off because the kids before them have ad nauseum. How can we promote life
long learning when we only model 3/4 ' s of the year and 1/3 to 1/2 of the
day when they are in session. To me its akin to having political reform
when less than half the people vote. It's kind of a joke.
