West bend is a major manufacturer of electrical appliances. They are
effectively competing with low cost Asian companies and the Japanese.
The work shop is geared toward decision makers interested improving their
manufacturing management processes. It will include: a workshop on visual
management, a tour and discussions with the people who made the change
happen.
West Bend management used all of these to change from the traditional to
current management technology:
Teamwork
TQM
Focus factories
Customer driven service
Total Productive maintenance
Visual management
JIT to drive waste reduction
Supplier partnering
Automation
They are heading toward
Lights out manufacturing
Six sigma capability
Exceeding customer expectations
Horizontal supply chain management
This is not theory but discussion and tour with the people who have done
it. and done it well.
There will be opportunity to network with managers of similar interest.
