This year's conference is being held September 15-17 in Orlando, FL. The
keynote speakers include:
Maya Angelou, "The Spirit of the Learning Community"
Peter Senge, "The Challenges of Organizing Learning Communities"
Daniel Goleman, "Emotional Intelligence: A Cornerstone of Learning Communities"
Timothy Gallwey, "The Inner Game of Work: Learning How to Change", and
Dee Hock, "The Rise of Chaordic Orgnaization: Purpose, Principles and People."
There is a special Introduction to Systems Thinking, included in the
conference fee on Sunday, September 14. There are also post-conference
sessions being held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
With over 60 concurrent sessions and forums, the conference should be an
exciting learning opportunity.
The fundamental source of competitive advantage lies in shifting from a
focus on relatively stable sources of technological and market leadership
to developing the capacity to create such advantages. But our traditional
hierarchical management structures are designed for controlling not
learning. So how do we organize for learning? This may be the core
question that confronts all organizations seeking to transform their
capacity to build knowledge. Leaders of the future must focus on how to
organize to create the conditions for learning instead of investing in
precisely defined organizational structures.
In this conference we shift our focus from learning organizations to
learning communities, to emphasize the growing importance of the community
nature of learning. After all, organizations don't learn, people do. And
people learn by participating in a social process that allows them to
continually share their practices, reflect on them, theorize about new
practices, and put those new understandings into practice.
For the novice systems thinker/organizational learner to the advanced,
there are sessions for you. Basic skill building workshops, coupled with
theoretical discussions will provide a wide range of learning experiences.
Team discounts are available for groups of four people or more.
