Clyde suggested that development does not aim, specifically to deliver
performances improvement.
Within my idea of development that is specifically its intent and it does
include most of the items that he mentions. Not all, and certainly not all
of the time. All my coaching activity is very focused on improving
performance.
I do not seek to be defensive [although fear that this might]. It is
another illustration of us viewing words through different filters as a
consequence of our own experience.
In my own case this has lead me to want to do development [because
training was 'done to me]. Development involved working together on
specific things with agreed objectives that we can measure things against.
