There was some discussion of unlearning on this list about a year ago. I
agree with you that it is important to take this into consideration as a
part of the preparation for learning in some situations.

As I recall, many participants were reluctant to use the term unlearning,
as it suggested a devaluation of learning. You might wish to look the
topic up in the archives.
