I assume you live in New Zealand, by your email address. I live in the
U.S. The point of a listserv for continuous learning (for me) is the need
of a truly global community. I have lived abroad many years and miss it.
I miss the diversity of opinions and perspectives.
How could I have shared my ideas with you (or friends from China, Kenya,
or Iceland) had I not found you on this list? The listserv is only a
medium of communication, as much as letters, video, or CD-ROM. Use the
right medium for the right purpose with the right audience and you have a
winning solution.
