Replying to LO15139 --

Dear Ray,

I very much enjoy all your posts, but I found your long one about your
experiences with the Southern Baptist Church and your parallels with
the Jewish Holocaust in Germany particularly moving.

Your comments are apropos because my wife, Hudi, and I have just
returned from a week of vacation in Santa Fe. While we were in New
Mexico, we visited the Taos Pueblo.

We were very painfully moved by the plight of the tribe we saw at that
site. We heard a young Pueblo woman recount the conflicts between her
people and the Catholic church and the repeated desecration of Indian
cemeteries by both the Church and by "civil" authorities. We heard
and saw the conflict the tribe was going through as it opened its site
to tourists to raise money even while trying to maintain the dignity
of their beliefs and their homes. They are in a no-win situation.

Your comments put words to many of our feelings.

Thank you,

Joe
