Brenda, make sure you have a sponsor (someone in a position of authority
and power) who will support your efforts. Then make sure you have
sponsors (preferably first-line supervisors, leadworkers, informal leaders
or managers) within the group that you are thinking of team-buidling with.

I began a similar process by building a "cadre" of learners who were work
group leaders. We used the 5th D fieldbook as our learning manual, and
began with "prerequisites" to personal mastery. Using a 2-year timeline,
we went through a process of internal dialog, outside training and
learning facilitation. By the end of the 1st year, the cadre was
operating in a self-directed format. Before we could move into the next
phase, the organization went through dramatic changes (including the
departure of the two primary change agents, my sponsor and myself).

The people who stayed behind are using the skills we developed, though
they are having to retrench into the hierarchical organization once again.
All of us, though, are much richer for the experience and, I think all of
us would go through it again. Good fortune to you in your process!

yours for continuous learning,

Doc
