Replying to LO15339 --

The problem with familial abuse is that it usually occurs when we are
children and have no outside experiences on which to draw comparisons or
to develop coping mechanisms. As a child, I felt that my familial
experiences were normal - it was only as an adult that I realized it
wasn't and was able to cut myself off from the negatives and develop
coping mechanisms.
