I am a masters candidate in the Organizational Management program at
Antioch University at Los Angeles. I enrolled in the program to facilitate
a career change from marketing and management to organization development.
One class in systems thinking was all it took to get me hooked on learning
organizations. In the paradigm I see the answer to questions I've been
asking myself (as a manager, as an employee) for years - where does the
energy to do work come from? How can companies sustain themselves? The
LO seems to me a beautifully intuitive solution to these issues.
I've been working as an external OD consultant for about a year. Although
the work I do definitely contributes to my clients' organizational
learning, I'd like to work more specifically with a company that is using
the LO principles as put forth by Senge et.al. At this point, I'm looking
for an internal position with such a company.
The learning organization is the topic of my thesis, as well.
Looking forward to the dialog,
Lisa Carmichael
