I have made the point before that a well-organized list like this one is
like a cocktail party in which the gracious host acts as a gentle
moderator, poking and prodding to ensure that all his guests are enjoying
themselves.
I would suggest that the positive experience on this list is more a
symptom of the host than anything else. My goal in LO is to enjoy and
learn and test my ideas with peers who are less judgemental than my flesh
based peers.
And our host also made the point:
>1) Learning involves action (ref. Kolb, PDCA, or any similar learning
>cycle). There is not so much talk here about our experiences in trying to
>put into action some new element of dialogue, knowledge, or learning. If
>more people talked about their experiences in trying to put org learning
>knowledge into action, this would make this forum more clearly a learning
>organization.
I would make two points:
1) It is very hard to relate a causal relationship in most of the
initiatives that I have tried as a result of my discussions here. Usually
the effects are longer term and we do the actions because we believe, and
2) Much learning starts with being exposed to the new that makes one want
to change and act in different ways, and this forum serves that purpose so
I guess I am agreeing with Rick that the LO forum itself is not an LO
because it lacks the action step. It is like a discussion group at
university after the lecture but before the lab...
