Replying to LO16466 --

Greetings from a lurker!

Per the assumption:

>2. Sports teams always play for short terms. Businesses have a 20 or 30
>year survival concern and executive reputations rise and fall on how well
>the organization prepares for what might be called "an entirely new game".
>This is not a big concern in sports.

Businesses often play the game and not the season...although they will
_say_ they are in it for the long term and _act_ as if the game were the
end-all. The sport analogies get old. It's amazing how they relate so
little and so much to reality.
