Have you read Tom Peter's new one?

"The Circle of Innovation" is 500 pages of challenge and derring-do from
the co-author of "In Search of Excellence", and "A Passion for
Excellence," and author of "Thriving on Chaos", "Liberation Management",
"The Pursuit of WOW!". Bonus Round!: The book has it's own web site where
you may sample quite a bit before deciding to shell out 30 bucks. Don't
settle for the digital version though. The book sings in a way the web
can't.

Check out the bulletin board linked to the bottom of the table of
contents.

Typical of Peter's synthetic mind, he pulls together years of quotes and
clippings(*) and personal experience into a roiling, often annoying, romp.
Despite his engineering and b-school degrees, and his years at McKinsey &
Co., this book is as readable (watchable, gropable...almost sniffable) as
they come. Please check your starched collar and tie bar at the door.
You'd sweat through it anyway, with chapters like "Destruction is Cool!"
and "The Intermediary is Doomed."

The subtitle of the book is "You Can't Shrink Your Way to Greatness".

* --- One of my favorite quotes from the book: "You say you don't want
emotional, volatile, and unpredictable, just imaginative? Sorry, they only
come in a package...I can offer you a dedicated, loyal, honest, realistic,
knowledgeable package, but the imagination bit will be rather limited."
...Patricia Pitcher, author, "The Drama of Leadership"

Let me know if you check it out. I'd love to hear what you think. BTW, I
was going to do excerpts on this and put it on my excerpts site
(http://www.nkcsd.k12.mo.us/reformarchive.htm), but Tom's own site is much
better. I have a link to it from my site.

Grace & Peace,
Scott Ott
