The LO-KM interface is an interesting consideration.

Here are several comments perhaps the list group would like to kick
around.

1- LO could be very useful in helping a org. routinely revise and map
TACIT KNOWLEDGE. One of the more difficult applied areas in KM is getting
the org. culture to first, understand the concept of tacit knowledge and
then second, systematically develop a knowledge transfer to the rest of
the org. . LO (esp dialogue) could of great assistance in this area.

2- LO could be useful in the IT arena. Say for instance, a company using
Lotus Notes also devised a useful application of LO approaches. I can
foresee a great leap in Innovation by using the LO approach w/ IT
platforms.

3- LO can be useful in (my term) a "Neo-bpr" approach to process mapping
and re-org processes. Instead of a tightly held re-org for dumbsizing and
increasing linear bottom line expenses, a LO approach could help everyone
look at shared processes from their own needs for their work and
understand how that fits in from a total perspective. The on-going
process redesign could be directed at the increase of intangible and
tangible assets. Where the new KM companies will out compete in their
market .

I think this will be a great discussion for our list. I thank Richard S.
Webster for asking the question. I look forward to the discussion on the
list and invite private comment at my e-mail address below.
