SPECIAL AUTHOR TELE-INTERVIEW
WITH
Dr. Barbara Pate Glacel & Dr. Emile A. Robert Jr.
Authors
of
"Light Bulbs For Leaders: A Guide Book for Leaders & Teams"

YOU ARE INVITED to attend a Special Author TELE-Interview with
Barbara Pate Glacel & Emile A. Robert Jr., authors of the book
"Light Bulbs for Leaders: A Guide Book For Leaders & Teams."
This one-hour, live TELE-interview will be facilitated by
Laureen Quick, President & Senior Consultant of QUANAH, on:

FRIDAY
APRIL 3, 1998
1:00-2:00 p.m. (EST)

The book, "Light Bulbs for Leaders" is the story of a group of senior
managers at FULCRUM Corporation (a fictitious organization) who
are charged with a very real task: turning the corporation around
in the face of declining budgets and increasing competition.
This scenario is not uncommon in many organizations today. What is
uncommon about this story is that the managers attempt to carry out
this task as a LEARNING TEAM.

The focus of this one-hour live interview will be on the role
of leaders within team-based, learning organizations. Specifically,
Dry. Glacel & Robert will discuss the leadership lessons learned
at FULCRUM as these lessons relate to four key principles essential
to the success of learning teams*:

1. SHOW UP.
You must be present to influence others.

2. BE ATTENTIVE.
Physical presence is necessary but not sufficient. You must bring
your energy and talent to the table, paying attention to what has
heart and meaning for yourself and your team.

3. TELL THE TRUTH WITHOUT BLAME OR JUDGEMENT.
Being nonjudgmental holds you accountable for your words.
Acting on what you say maintains your authenticity.

4. BE OPEN TO OUTCOMES: BE OPEN TO OUTCOME, NOT ATTACHED TO OUTCOME.
Do all that you can to prepare yourself and your team for the task
at hand. Then release control. This detachment increases one's
capacity to be objective while still caring deeply. Being open to
outcome reduces rigidity and increases creativity and learning.
