Recently, I have been taking a course on somatics with an aikido master,
Richard Heckler. He shows the importance of embodied learning around
relating to another person. I do not think that what Patrick Sue points
to is superficial or even unfortunate. Human beings are animal creatures
not just minds. The bodymind presence is communicated in non verbal ways.

If you are interested in Richard's work, you might want to check out his
book, The Anatomy of Change. It talks about the power of presence in
addition to a few other topics related to embodiment. He has me more than
convinced this is a domain well worth learning. It is a pleasure to study
with him! For those who might not know him, Richard was George Leonard's
aikido partner.
