I can't think of a simpler example than the messages on this list. We
generally cooperate in the maintenance and stocking of this tank of ideas
yet we often compete among ourselves to place our ideas first. The
language and format we use is (mostly) common to all of us and we
cooperate in keeping it that way. Ironically, we compete among ourselves
with that same language to elevate points, counter real or perceived
attacks, prove or disprove facts, and debate with great vigor the
obscurities of our common topic.
