it is always very difficult to remember that you are writing in a "second"
language, as your postings are eloquent and sophisticated.
I agree with you that many practitioners (and advocates) of empowerment
meant it's use in a way congruent with "developing power capacity." But,
being accurate in our meaning allows us to check the words we use--and
this is most meaningful to people "who have been done unto by others
before."
