A bit of catch-up and a new challenge LO18443

I tend to fade in and out of this list...I just can't leave it alone
...grin.... I'm back for a bit, but actually wanted to share a few things,
some of them having to do to how the list has stimulated some projects at
this end.

First, since I was here I finished a book on Conflict Prevention In The
Workplace.

More interesting, it looks like I will be doing a book for a major
publisher on performance management, since I have been asked to do so. In
part, I think this has come about because of my renewed interest in the
subject as a result of past discussions on this list and a few others. The
discusssions here pushed me to write several articles on ranking and
rating systems.

What's going to be interesting is to try and weave a book on performance
management that incorporates components of systems thinking and
organizational learning, while allowing it to be used in organizations
that have not made "the shifts" to those positions. Also a challenge...to
help managers who are being asked to do performance management within
systems that aren't aimed at improvement.

In any event, that's the challenge I'm going to be meeting in the next six
weeks.
