Hello to all,

I have a request for you, I need some advice for a friend of mine and I am
hoping you can help, point him to some ideas.

Some background first. My friend Dirk, is an accomplished attorney who
graduated from Stanford Law and has 25 years of experience in Business
Litigation. His record is impeccable and in the world of corporate law
Dirk is a heavyweight, and I am not referring to his proportion of body
fat.

Dirk has just come through one of the most interesting parts of his
journey on this earth, you know, the one where one travels to the inner
core of one's own being. The result of that has been a strong desire to
"rotate the prism" of his experience and training in such a way that
instead of resorting to suing people and organizations he wants to counsel
organizations on how doing certain things will keep them out of court and
provide at the same time a very conducive and positive place to work.
Doing what we in OD's ville do but approaching the problem from a legal
context. I don't know how many of you feel, but it is my opinion that many
HR Departments have become nothing more than Corporate Paralegals, or
shall we say corporate "fire departments". I do not say this meaning
anything derogatory, I realize how HR departments have been subject to
complex changes in employment law.

Dirk, believes that by taking a "preventative approach" much as in caring
for one's health, that organizations legal problems can be reduced and the
costs associated with that also be reduced. I ponder perhaps we could free
up many of the HR Capability in organizations to one of human development.

In any case, I am asking for your help, any ideas, any thoughts in terms
of conferences or places or magazines or anything you might think of where
Dirk, can find a forum for his ideas. A place where he can present his
perspective and seven guidelines,( I think it is seven now) which can help
organizations stay out of court and away from expensive litigation.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

IF you would like to send you comments to Dirk direct his email is
rydetiger@aol.com

We are thanking you in advance.
