Goal: How to overcome deep feeling of mistrust / hurt feeling when
my boss betrays me?

Fact: Personal Coach & Organisation Coach
Fact: Coaching Principles
Fact: Caring
Fact: Personal Vision

Symptom: I was made Acting Manager of my department when my boss was
transferred to another Division.

Symptom: I report to an Executive Director.

Symptom: One day I learned that the Executive Director had been taken to
task by his colleagues for launching a project which he had not discussed
with them.

Symptom: The Executive Director lied, telling the group that I had
launched the project without his knowledge, and added that he would direct
me to cancel it and repair the "damage".

Symptom: In fact, the Executive Director had asked me to design and launch
the project.

Symptom: It was generally expected throughout the organization that I
would be a candidate for the permanent manager position, and I am
reasonably certain that I would have been selected.

Symptom: The position of the permanent manager position would have been a
great career step for me at that time.

Symptom: I felt that it would have been difficult to overcome my distrust
of the boss and perform effectively.

Symptom: I was invited to apply for the permanent manager, but declined.

Symptom: Should I have been able to override those feelings of mistrust
and hurt feelings?

Cause: Cares for boss, but feeling of hurt and mistrust still exist due to
boss betrayal.

Fix: The acting manager has demonstrated genuine caring for the boss,
certainly with courage and integrity. But the dark clouds of hurt feeling
and mistrust linger on, a rather natural human reaction.

Fix: The acting manager should review his own personal goals / Vision in
life. If the personal Vision is a compelling force to help him to
self-actualise, then it will become the main source of energy. Weigh
(imagine a weight balance) the hurt feelings / mistrust on one side, and
Vision on the other side. Which one has a greater weight / force? and keep
focusing on realizing personal Vision to draw inner strength / energy.

Fix: If the Personal Vision is the guiding force, he could still apply to
the permanent managerial position and continue to work with the same boss,
driven by the force of the Vision, not the hurt feeling or mistrust.

Fix: Coaching Principles: Always turn to personal Vision for source of
inspiration and energy.
