After more than a decade of studying and practicing distance learning,
like Leslie Lax I am still learning.
Here is one thing I've learned that is often overlooked, or blurred.
The important choice is not between distance education and campus or face
to face education but between distance learning and none at all.
The frail elderly, the disabled for whom the journey to campus is one of
pain can join with classmates and mentors online: they cannot get to
campus;
Those who travel and cannot take part in classes that require attendance
15 consecutive Tuesday; those in barracks, or hospitals, or workplace
distant from the campus or workplace; those in other countries...
It is often learning at a distance or none at all.
