The ANSI/ISO process is an excellent way to develop shared vision, common
understanding, and aligned action about KM. It brings people with a myriad
of mental models through a consensual process that could take months or
years toward an agreement about set of terms, processes, and/or
guidelines. Though we are interested in the end product, as has been
discovered in Systems Thinking, the process is often more valuable than
the end product for it helps merge mental models and educate the community
about KM.
A close examination of our web site will reveal that we are also engaged
in a similar process with academia to establish KM as a science and
develop graduate courses covering KM for organizations, science, and
society.
