Innovation Strategy: Operationalizing the Knowledge Concepts
Info at: http://www.KnowledgeEcology.com/keu/cc/99feb.innovation.shtml
Instructor: Debra Amidon
Offered: Feb 15 March 5, 1999
Knowledge management has become a well known term. But the real challenge
facing most companies is that of faster innovation. Creating the system
within which ideas are created and applied is more than management. It is a
matter of strategy and leadership. That's where Knowledge Innovation comes
to the fore.
This course is intended to sift the fad from the fundamental.

Communities of Practice
Info at: http://www.KnowledgeEcology.com/keu/cc/99w2.shtml
Instructor: Etienne Wenger, Ph.D.
Offered: March 1 -19, 1999
We often say that knowledge is not just information; and we often say that
engaged people are the key to knowledge-based performance in our
organizations. But to make this a reality, people need an environment
that allows them to participate fully in the creation of knowledge.
Communities of practice are the most critical ingredient of such an
environment. Knowing how to foster these communities is therefore a
strategic competence in a knowledge economy. That is the focus of this
course.

Designing for Emergence
Info at: http://www.KnowledgeEcology.com/keu/cc/99w2.shtml
Instructor: Michael McMaster
Offered: March 15 - April 16
A three week course spread over a period of 5 weeks
With the increasing pace of innovation, organizations are seeking ways to
produce non-linear improvement. There is a body of knowledge which supports
this approach and can be applied directly to corporate intentions.
Complex adaptive systems theory has a lot to offer to this area but the
major focus needs to be on "emergence" rather than compexity. Emergence is
that phenomenon of living systems that produce constant variety, richness
and robust survival approaches.
This course provides an understanding of emergence and complex adaptive
systems in ways that make them readily applicable to corporate challenges.

Futurizing - The Future at Work Today
Info at: http://www.KnowledgeEcology.com/keu/cc/99apr.future.shtml
Instructor: Arian Ward
Offered: April 26 - May 14, 1999
The diversity and rate of change in the world today make the future look
very uncertain and
threatening to those who are uncomfortable with the unknown. But what if
you could make that uncertainty an ally?
In this workshop, Arian Ward -- futurist, leader of the Work Ecology
Network, and Leader of Collaboration, Knowledge & Learning for a large
telecommunications company -- will facilitate your exploration of the
uncertain territory of the future. The goal is not to talk about the future
as some esoteric fantasy realm, but to put the future to work for you and
your organization today.
