In my experience there is a sixth item that I have seen at work many times.

6) It's what the instructor knows how to do

I can also see some mental models at work...

1) This is the way I learned it
2) If the student wishes to pursue a career in this s/he has to learn the
language
3) Even if #2 is no, the educated person knows these things
4) Many other possible mental models
