A reply to Douglas Max
I very much liked Doug's metaphors and the idea of sharing what a Learning
Organisation will look like. Certainly as below, I think it is a place of
becoming, yet it is also one of BEING. Mindfulness of learning and
sharing.

I think a learning organisation will be buzzing with excitement and fun
frustration (as we bump against problems) and helping each other and
sharing. I think people will work together and share together. People
will not be punished for making mistakes. People will BE win/win.
Imagine, no one you have to worry about stabbing you in the back when
you're not looking (I've worked for a few toxic organisations)! Imagine
looking out for others and knowing they are looking out for you. Imagine
making a mistake and instead of thinking, 'oh shit!' you think, 'now, I
wonder what we can learn from this' and you immediately go and share it
with others who are grateful for the learning! Imagine people appreciating
you. Imagine getting up in the morning, excited to get in to work with
your colleagues on your projects. EVERY MORNING (not just occasionally).
Or perhaps logging on to an ongoing discussion where everyone is equally
respected.
Just some of the thoughts that cross my mind quickly when you asked the
question. And I see a lot of smiling too, in my imagination and laughter.
Because learning is FUN!
