Greetings all,

I, a relative new comer to the LO world, have been enjoying the
discussions here for about two weeks. Wow, do I have a lot to learn!

I am a Lieutenant in the US Navy and am currently serving as the Acting
Executive Officer of a small command. I am also working on a MA in
Organizational Leadership, where I learned about Senge's work on learning
organizations. Fascinating.

I have also become very interested in the principles of servant leadership
as I see one closely related to the other. It is this light in which I
"saw" the brilliance of Mr. de Lange's is of the noun "earnest" in
LO20533.

In Robert Greenleaf's writings I learned that what we are after is
strength; defined as the "abiltiy to see enough of the available choices
of aim, choose the correct aim, and pursue that aim in a responsible
manner over an extended period of time." He goes on to say that this
pusuit of strength is not an option but an ethical requirement.

Now, as I see it, the only way for me, or my organization, to gain
strength is to learn. As I learn, I see more of the choices of aim and
can, hopefully, choose the right aim. Each choice changes the course of
my learning, continuing the need to learn.\

Given this, if learning is not my earnst, it aught to be!
