Dave Birren's random lunchtime thought was a good one:

>... an organization limits its complexity (and scope) in response to the
>extent of external complexity it is capable of responding to. That is,
>how an organization defines its sphere of concern may be determined by
>its capacity for complexity.

Thanks for the corollary. I thought of another, related, one.

An organization should limit its (internal) complexity to the absolute
minimum required by the Law of Requisite Variety.

As Einstein was quoted as saying: "Keep everything as simple as possible,
but no simpler."
