I have done a lot of work with a program called The Team Learning Lab.
The TLL is a team learning program that translates organizational learning
principles into tools that employees can use immediately on the job. Fred
Simon and Nick Zeniuk developed the content of this program for their
Learning Lab when they were managers of the 1995 Lincoln Continental
Program at Ford Motor Co. The TLL is designed in a modular format (so it
can be worked through in 2+ hour chunks), is video-supported (featuring
Peter Senge and Fred and Nick), and designed for teams to "facilitate"
themselves (which leads to much more commitment and energy on the part of
the team) and is supported by a team learning coach (often a role played
by the trainer/educator).
I have found it extremely effective as a team builder because the team is
"learning how to be a team" as part of the process, sharing common
learning experiences, struggling together to create an inspiring
vision/focus for their team, learning how to share leadership of the
learning sessions, etc. The content includes:
Module 1: Understanding Mental Models, Enhancing Conversation
Module 2: Applying Systems Thinking
Module 3: Creating Shared Team Vision
Module 4: Using the Tools, integrating principles learned, action planning,
identifying specific outcomes and daily tasks needed to be accomplished to
achieve results, etc.
Organizations ranging from Pratt & Whitney, Hewlett Packard, Aeroquip
Vickers, to a number of service and health care organizations have or are
using the TLL.
If anyone (in the U.S.) would like any information about the TLL, please
feel free to contact me.
Warm (almost Spring!) regards, Claire
