Sure. Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton came up with this model for
measuring organizational performance, publishing articles in the Harvard
Business Review. One is Sept/Oct, 1993: p 134 The later publication is
Jan/Feb 1995, pg 75.

They have a book out: Translating Strategy into Action: the Balance
Scorecard.

Kaplan is a professor of business leadership at Harvard and Norton is a
consultant.
