Hi again!
Just a note to thank those of you who have responded with ideas about
empowerment. I am assembling them in one file and starting to look at
them, including the worksheet from Scott Simmermann. Our group will be
meeting in mid-April.
I have also been reading the How does a Nation Learn with interest. I
grew up in South Africa and my family is there, and married an Icelander
so I always feel a little bipolar. The weekend paper here in Iceland has
a long article on South Africa as well as being full of news of the
situation in Yugoslavia. Iceland has always had an ambivalent attitude to
being in NATO, has recently brought in three groups of mixed marriage
refugees from the Bosnian situation and this week marked 50 years since
Iceland agreed to enter NATO. I also got a mailing from the UNHCR and it
seems ironic that one Western plane flies in with bombs according to one
campaign, and is shortly followed by another plane in a different
campaign, with food, blankets and tents.
Greetings from a sunny Iceland
Allyson
