I still pose the question: Why do we have to create something new?
It really sounds like many are recommending that all learning
organizations develop a server based information storing and retrieval
system. Okay. To ask the next best question: If a specific system (or
software) is developed, so what?
Are there not a lot of systems and programs out there that can record
data? Sure are.
Aren't we really talking about providing an alternative means of
information transfer, learning (training and education)? With all the high
tech solutions, human interaction, intervention and interest remain the
most effective means of learning. Record all we might, there still remains
the motive to review it and the ability of the record to express the
information in a way that it provides the most effective transfer of the
learning by the originator.
Then again, I could be missing the essential point.
