"Flat" organisation - origin? LO21959

The term "Flat Organization" must derive at least as far back as the 1950s
from the span of control studies in hierarchy by Herbert Simon, the Levels
of Buraucracy and Organizational Strata empirical work by Jacques., and
studies of layered organizations by Joel Moses. Any one of these predates
the Hammer reference by at least three decades.
