Dear ORG Learners,

--Regarding the "Role of Universities in Future Information Society" I
would like to motivate and diverse the attention of readers and lurkers to
visit the recent issue of Educom Review. Prof. Greg Bothun, a Physics
Professor, from the team of academician has clearly expressed his views in
his article on "CyberProf: The University in the Next Millennium" He
writes, "Colleges and universities must not succumb to mere market forces
and become simply packages of Information."

He writes further, "The fundamental change facing the Academy is to retain
true to its educational mission, despite economic and market forces, and
to continually reinforce the fundamental truth that the value of knowledge
is priceless."

NOTE:-
Actually, the article was written as a part of speech delivered by
University of Oregon President David Frohnmayer at the "Information
Resources for the 21st Century: Contect, Access, and People" conference in
Portland, Oregon, on May 5, 1999.

The article can be readable in full at

Thanking you!
Sincerely
Arun Tripathi
