SYSTEMS RESEARCH AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE
SPECIAL ISSUE: PARTICIPATORY PLANNING AND DESIGNING

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

30 June 2000

This call for abstract is meant for all scholars and practitioners of
Future Search, Interactive Planning and such other approaches to
facilitate participatory planning, co-operative action, and collective
learning in organisations and communities.

A special issue of the academic journal 'Systems Research and Behavioral
Science' (SRBS) is proposed focusing on the topics of participatory
planning, co-operative action, and collective learning in organisations
and communities. SRBS is the official journal of the 'International
Federation of Systems Research' (IFSR). More information about the Journal
and the Federation can be found at the following Web-sites:

Systems Research and Behavioral Science
http://www.interscience.wiley.com/jpages/1092-7026/
International Federation for Systems Research
http://www.sea.uni-linz.ac.at/ifsr/

SRBS publishes articles dealing with systems approaches to: the redesign
of organisational and societal structures; the management of
administrative and business processes; problems of change management; the
implementation of procedures to increase the quality of work and life; the
resolution of clashes of norms and values; social cognitive processes;
etc. Approaches like Future Search and Interactive Planning embody a type
of systemic thinking that facilitates working together to create future
conditions of work and life in an organisational or community context.
Therefore, it is important to create an opportunity for the readership of
SRBS to explore this type of thinking, study the developments in this
area, and focus attention on the research problems that still remain
unsolved.

The above background should be taken into account while preparing
abstracts. The abstract should be of about 500 words. The academic
referees of the journal (SRBS) will review the abstracts. Authors of
selected abstracts will be invited to develop their abstracts into full
papers for the Special Issue. The timeframe for this project will be as
follows:

Abstracts received: Latest by 31 August 2000

Review feedback given: Latest by 30 September 2000

First Version of the papers received: Latest by 31 December 2000

At the discretion of the Editors of SRBS, the final papers may have to go
through a process of review or mentoring.

All correspondence in this regard should be sent to:
