What's occurred? Sorry, I wanted to state my question in a pretty
inclusive manner... Perhaps it was too ambiguous.

I was thinking in these terms:
 - The readership here grew gradually to near 2000 and has held steady
at that level for a couple of years.
 - People come and go, but the readership is approx. steady. I'm seeing
some people back for the 2nd and 3rd time.
 - There is a flow of messages. There are ups and downs, but there's
always a flow.
 - Writers show up, write vigorously for a while, then there is turnover.
 - There's a tone here in the visible conversation.
 - I receive notes of apprecaition which are not visible.

You have have other thoughts on what has occurred here, but in comparison
to many other "dead" discussion facilities, this one is alive.

I'm interested in what it has been that has facilitated this emergence.

In trying to create conventional and on-line activities in SoL, we are
thinking about the small things which if done from the center will help
lots of wonderful lively things emerge from groups around the world.
