Dear Learners,

I really don't know what to do about this gentle thread,

---- Start Quote -----
To explain (rather than define) "tacit knowing", MP begins on p4 with:
. I shall reconsider human knowledge by starting
. from the fact that WE CAN KNOW MORE
. THAN WE CAN TELL. This fact seems obvious
. enough; but it is not easy to say exactly what
 . it means.
He then proceeds from p4 up to p20 to paint a rich picture by many
examples, gradually artioculating the structure of "tacit knowing"! This
seems to stop at p20 when he begins to write:
. I think I can show that the process of formalizing all
. knowledge to the exclusion of any tacit knowledge is
 . self-defeating.
----- End Quote -----

It is full of 'golden nails' of learning that are hammered into curving
branched beams (double-entendre;-) that configure to set a great ship of
thoughts upon some partially charted ocean. I feel very at()tuned to dear
Walt Whitman and so to think to just sit and watch and accrue to myself the
condensations of it all in my head.
I have been receiving the most intense learnings from a friend about matters
of 'edge' and 'light' (another d-e?;-) and 'heaviness' and I can only
'resolve' it by the doing in the knowing one among the many.

Now look! Look well! Say, "it is a great ship upon the ocean" then look
over the edge with me and what do we see as thoughted things amidst the
sea of untranquility? A 'school' of dolphins (symbols of shared communal
love in learning) riding the bow wave, flying faster ahead - but not so at
all, and rather standing still amid the current sitting there upon it's
own dynamic illusion. Dream Weaving. I am taking new teachers to me apace.

There was a world class artist called Morandi who lived in a small town in
Italy all his life, so far as I know he left it just once and did not like
what he saw. Retreat he painted pretty much just one subject, groups of
simple small objects, head on usually, on a table. In and under these
small 'things' are the storm ridden mountains and deep quiet canyons of a
gigantic soul/mind at wrest and in total Advance. What would keep a man
there? What could move a man away?

WE CAN KNOW MORE
 . THAN WE CAN TELL.

...is a very great step both forward and backward and speaks of an immensity
of creative insight and that at just one step of its multiplicity of levels
it speaks, whispers to me
....
